Simple Delivery became mandatory for new private-seller listings in April 2025. From 26 December 2025 eBay also migrated live listings that still used custom postage, so almost every private seller now ships through eBay's own labels.
eBay UK made Simple Delivery the only postage option for private sellers listing eligible items on 15 April 2025. Listings that were already live with custom postage were left alone at first, but from 26 December 2025 eBay migrated those too.
How Simple Delivery works
- eBay sets the postage price the buyer pays, based on the parcel size and (since September 2026) the item value.
- After the sale you get a QR code or printable label for Evri, Royal Mail, InPost (QR code only) or DHL (home collection). You can exclude couriers in your postage preferences, but that raises the buyer's price.
- eBay covers loss and damage from the first carrier scan as long as you post within your handling time, and tracking is uploaded automatically.
- Labels are valid for 7 days.
Who can still opt out
Only very small, low-value items — under £20, letter-sized and under 100 g, in categories such as trading cards, coins, stamps, phone cases, CDs and DVDs — can be listed with your own postage. Items over £750, and electronics over £300, are outside Simple Delivery altogether.
What it means for sellers
You no longer buy postage yourself for most sales, and you cannot undercut eBay's price. The upside is a simpler flow: pick the QR-code courier that suits you (InPost lockers for small items, Evri for bulkier ones), drop off, and let eBay handle tracking and protection.
