Cheapest Courier Options for Depop UK Sellers

Written by · updated · checked against Depop help centre: how to ship (UK) and Evri: our prices · how we check

Depop gives UK sellers two ways to ship: Depop Shipping, which issues an Evri label the buyer pays for, and the 'Other' option, where you buy postage from any courier yourself. Which is cheapest depends on the parcel and on who you want to carry the cost. This guide compares the two routes with the prices in force after Royal Mail's 5 October 2026 change, shows where InPost fits in, and sets out the cover each option gives you, because the cheapest label is not cheap if the parcel goes missing.

    The short answer

For most Depop parcels, Depop Shipping is the simplest and usually the cheapest option: an Evri QR code emailed to you after the sale, the buyer paying a fixed Small (under 1 kg), Medium (under 2 kg) or Large (under 5 kg) tier, and tracking added automatically. If you ship yourself with 'Other', Royal Mail Tracked 48 Large Letter (£2.90) is cheapest for thin items and Evri (£2.62 to a ParcelShop, £3.04 to the door) for everything else, with Evri staying cheapest above 2 kg. InPost is not integrated with Depop, but you can buy an InPost label directly (from £1.99) and add the tracking number.

The two ways to ship on Depop

Depop Shipping is the built-in route: you choose a size tier when you list, the buyer pays that tier at checkout, and after the sale Depop emails an Evri QR code (plus a printable label) and marks the order as shipped at Evri's first scan. It covers mainland UK only and the tiers stop at 5 kg. The 'Other' option means you buy the postage yourself from any courier, charge the buyer whatever postage you set on the listing, and enter the tracking number by hand when you mark the order as shipped. Depop Protection applies to Depop Shipping orders; with 'Other' your evidence in a dispute is the tracking you entered.

Depop Shipping: what the buyer pays

The tier price is set by Depop and paid by the buyer, so the label costs you nothing. The last figures Depop published were £2.99 for Small (under 1 kg), £4.49 for Medium (under 2 kg) and £6.49 for Large (under 5 kg); check the current tiers in the app before you list. A tier that is lighter than the packed parcel can be surcharged or refused at the ParcelShop, so weigh the packed item on kitchen scales before choosing. For a seller, 'cheapest' here means the tier the buyer is willing to pay without walking away: a Small tier on a 900 g jumper keeps the listing competitive.

'Other' with Royal Mail: October 2026 prices

Buying online in the Royal Mail app or Click & Drop since 5 October 2026: Tracked 48 Large Letter £2.90 (up to 1 kg, under 2.5 cm thick), Tracked 48 Small Parcel £3.75 (up to 2 kg), Tracked 24 Small Parcel £4.80, 2nd Class Small Parcel £4.40, 2nd Class Medium Parcel £7.00 up to 2 kg and £9.00 up to 10 kg, Special Delivery from £9.85. The Large Letter is the one real bargain: no Evri tier beats £2.90 with £75 of cover for a T-shirt or a scarf in a flat mailer. At the counter a Tracked 48 Small Parcel is £4.70, so never buy there.

    'Other' with Evri or InPost

Evri direct from evri.com is £2.62 to a ParcelShop or £3.04 to the door for a small parcel under 1 kg, £3.52 for 1 to 2 kg (£4.79 standard size), £6.59 for 2 to 5 kg, £6.68 for 5 to 10 kg and £10.28 for 10 to 15 kg, including VAT, tracking and £20 of cover; choose 'print in ParcelShop' for a QR code. InPost, bought at inpost.co.uk, is £1.99 for a Small compartment, £2.59 for a Medium and £3.99 for a Large to another locker or shop (£2.89 to £5.99 to a home address), the cheapest tracked option for anything that fits a locker, but it refuses batteries, liquids and aerosols and covers second-hand items only up to £50.

Cover: the number that changes the answer

Depop Shipping orders carry Evri's £20 cover plus Depop Protection. With 'Other', InPost pays at most £50 for a second-hand item (nothing for collectables or glass), Evri £20 unless you add more, Royal Mail Tracked £75 and Special Delivery £750. For a £15 T-shirt, Depop Shipping or InPost is fine. For a £120 vintage jacket, Royal Mail Tracked 48 at £3.75 with £75 of cover, or Special Delivery at £9.85 with £750, is the cheaper decision even though the label costs more.

    Worked example

Three Depop sales. A band T-shirt at £12: Depop Shipping Small tier, buyer pays £2.99 (check the app), Evri QR code, no cost to you. A silk scarf at £18, 70 g in a flat mailer: 'Other' with Royal Mail Tracked 48 Large Letter at £2.90, cheaper than any tier and tracked. A pair of boots at £95, 1.7 kg: Depop Shipping Medium tier is easiest, but if you want more than £20 of cover, 'Other' with Royal Mail Tracked 48 Small Parcel at £3.75 gives £75; InPost Medium at £2.59 would be cheapest of all but caps cover at £50.

Choosing the cheapest route for a Depop order

    1. 1
Weigh and measure the packed parcel at home; this decides both the Depop Shipping tier and the Royal Mail format
    2. 2
For most items choose Depop Shipping when listing: pick the Small, Medium or Large tier and the buyer pays it at checkout
    3. 3
For thin items under 2.5 cm that fit a Large Letter, consider the 'Other' option with Royal Mail Tracked 48 Large Letter at £2.90 (up to 1 kg)
    4. 4
For parcels over 5 kg use 'Other' and buy an Evri label on evri.com (£6.68 for 5 to 10 kg to the door, £5.87 to a ParcelShop)
    5. 5
If you do not have a printer, stay with Depop Shipping; the Evri QR code is printed at the ParcelShop or locker
    6. 6
Drop off, keep the receipt, and for 'Other' orders only, add the tracking number to the order immediately

Where Depop sellers pay more than they need to

    • Buying your own Evri label when Depop Shipping would have given you one the buyer pays for
    • Forgetting that 'Other' orders need the tracking number added by hand, and that it cannot be edited later
    • Choosing untracked postage to save money; Depop Protection does not apply to 'Other' orders, and untracked parcels lose disputes
    • Picking a Depop Shipping tier lighter than the packed parcel; Evri can surcharge or refuse it
    • Buying Royal Mail postage at the counter (£4.70 for Tracked 48) when online is £3.75

    Questions sellers ask about this

What is the cheapest way to ship on Depop UK in 2026?

Usually Depop Shipping, because the buyer pays the postage: you choose a Small, Medium or Large tier when listing and Depop emails you an Evri QR code after the sale. The last published tier prices were £2.99, £4.49 and £6.49; check the current figures in the app. If you would rather ship yourself, Royal Mail Tracked 48 Large Letter (£2.90, £75 of cover) is cheapest for thin items and Evri (£2.62 to a ParcelShop or £3.04 to the door under 1 kg, £6.59 for 2 to 5 kg) for everything else. Always buy online rather than at a counter.

Does Depop generate shipping labels for UK sellers?

Yes. Depop Shipping generates an Evri label for UK domestic sales: you get a QR code by email and in the order, plus a printable label if you want one, and tracking is attached automatically. It covers mainland UK only and tiers go up to 5 kg. The alternative 'Other' option is for shipping yourself with any courier: you add the tracking number in the app when you mark the order as shipped, and Depop Protection does not apply.

Can I use InPost for Depop orders?

Only under the 'Other' option. Buy an InPost label directly from inpost.co.uk (£1.99 Small, £2.59 Medium or £3.99 Large to another locker or InPost Shop, or £2.89 to £5.99 to a home address), drop it at any locker, then enter the InPost tracking number in the Depop order. It is often the cheapest way to send a small parcel if you are paying, but InPost will not carry anything with a battery, liquid or aerosol and covers second-hand items only up to £50.

Is Evri or Royal Mail more reliable for Depop?

Royal Mail still scores higher in consumer surveys and buyers trust it more, but Evri has improved a great deal, merged with DHL eCommerce UK in 2025 and now has more than 11,000 ParcelShops and lockers. For everyday items under about £30, Depop Shipping's Evri label, with tracking, Depop Protection and no printer, is the sensible default. For valuable or time-sensitive pieces, use the 'Other' option with Royal Mail Tracked 24 (£75 of cover) or Special Delivery (£750).

Do I need a printer to ship on Depop?

No. Depop Shipping's Evri QR code is scanned and printed for you at any Evri ParcelShop or Evri locker. If you ship yourself, evri.com offers 'print in ParcelShop' for a QR code, and Royal Mail postage bought in the Royal Mail app can be printed at the Post Office from a QR code. You only need a printer if you choose a printable label deliberately.

How do I add tracking to a Depop order after shipping?

With Depop Shipping you do not; the Evri tracking is linked automatically and the order is marked as shipped at the first scan. For 'Other' orders, open the sold item, tap 'Mark as shipped', choose the courier and type the tracking number exactly; it cannot be changed afterwards. Do it as soon as you have dropped off, because without tracking Depop will side with a buyer who says the item never arrived.
