Gumtree UK Shipping Guide

Gumtree spent twenty years as the place you sold a sofa to someone with a van. That changed on 20 November 2025 when it launched Delivery on Gumtree, a built-in payments-and-postage flow powered by Evri and the payment provider Mangopay. For eligible categories — fashion and sports apparel, kids' toys and baby items, entertainment, home textiles — you can now tick 'delivery' when you create the ad, and buyers anywhere in the UK can pay through the site instead of turning up with cash.

The mechanics will feel familiar to Vinted sellers. When someone buys, Gumtree issues an Evri label: print it at home, or show the QR code at any of Evri's 9,000-plus ParcelShops or at an Evri locker and the label is printed for you. The buyer can have the parcel delivered to their door or to an Evri shop or locker to collect. You must post within 7 calendar days, use the label exactly as issued and make sure it is visible on the parcel, and the tracking is added to the order automatically.

Money moves through Mangopay rather than directly between you and the buyer. The buyer pays the item price, the delivery cost (calculated from the parcel size you chose when listing) and a buyer protection fee of 5–10% of the item price. The funds are held until the buyer confirms receipt or 48 hours after the tracking shows delivery, then released to you. If a parcel is lost or damaged and you followed the rules, compensation of up to £250 is available — which is also the maximum item value the service accepts.

Two limits matter. Only the listed categories qualify (watches, high-value jewellery and vinyl are specifically excluded, though Gumtree has said it will add categories through 2026), and Evri's own limits apply to the parcel: 15 kg, 120 cm on the longest side, and 62 × 57 × 39 cm if you use a locker. For everything else — and for buyers who would rather collect — Gumtree still works the old way, with payment and handover arranged between you.
