InPost Locker Sizes for Vinted Sellers
Written by Omair Sao · updated · checked against InPost UK: locker sizes and Vinted help centre: parcel sizes and carriers · how we check
Most failed InPost drop-offs on Vinted come down to one number: the depth of the packed parcel. The three compartment sizes share the same width and height and differ only in how deep they are, so a coat that 'looks small' can still fail at the door. This guide sets out the exact dimensions, what fits in each size from the parcels we send every week, how Vinted's size tiers interact with the compartment you choose at the locker, and what each option costs.
The short answer
InPost lockers have three compartment sizes: Small (A) at 8 × 38 × 64 cm, Medium (B) at 19 × 38 × 64 cm and Large (C) at 41 × 38 × 64 cm (depth × width × height). Every size takes up to 15 kg, InPost's network limit, down from the 25 kg that older guides still quote. For most folded clothing a Medium is enough; T-shirts and small accessories fit a Small; coats, shoe boxes and bundles need a Large. On Vinted you pick the compartment on the locker screen after scanning the QR code, so measure the packed depth before you go.
The three compartment sizes
InPost publishes the sizes on its locker-sizes page and they are the same at every UK locker. Small (A) is 8 cm deep, 38 cm wide and 64 cm high. Medium (B) is 19 cm deep with the same width and height. Large (C) is 41 cm deep, again 38 × 64 cm. The biggest parcel the network accepts is therefore 41 × 38 × 64 cm, and the weight limit is 15 kg for every size, including marketplace parcels handed in at an InPost Shop. InPost's sizes page also lists an Extra Small slot (4 × 23 × 40 cm) at some newer lockers for envelopes and cards; it is not everywhere, so do not plan around it.
Because width and height never change, the only measurement that decides whether the door closes is depth. A parcel 30 cm wide and 50 cm tall is fine in any compartment; the question is whether it is under 8, 19 or 41 cm thick once packed and taped.
What fits where
From the parcels we send: a single T-shirt, a slim book, a phone case, jewellery or a pair of socks packs to 3 to 5 cm in a mailing bag and goes in a Small. A pair of jeans folded into thirds is 5 to 7 cm, so one pair fits a Small and two pairs need a Medium. Jumpers, hoodies, dresses and shoes without their box are Medium territory at 10 to 18 cm. Coats, boots, trainers in the original box, handbags, bundles and small homeware need a Large.
The borderline cases are the ones that fail. A thick knit that measures 20 cm because you folded it in half rather than in thirds; a shoe box whose lid adds 2 cm; a bundle of five items that a Medium would have taken if the bag had been pressed flat. When a measurement is within a centimetre of the limit, treat it as the next size up or repack.
- Small (8 cm): T-shirts, vests, leggings, scarves, phone cases, jewellery, slim paperbacks, trading cards in a mailer
- Medium (19 cm): jeans, jumpers, hoodies, dresses, skirts, shoes without the box, two or three light items
- Large (41 cm): coats, puffer jackets, boots, boxed trainers, handbags, bundles, small homeware, hardback book sets
Why depth is the number that matters
A rigid box keeps its full depth however you handle it. A polythene mailing bag does not: fold the garment flat, press the air out before you seal it and the parcel settles into a smaller compartment than the same item in a box. A vacuum bag halves the volume of a puffer jacket. Bubble wrap adds depth, which is the one thing you do not want, so keep it for anything structured or fragile and skip it for clothing.
Measure at home with a tape or by standing the packed parcel against a ruler, and measure the thickest point, not the edge. If the number is 8, 19 or 41 cm exactly, it will not close.
How Vinted's size tiers interact with the compartment
Vinted does not let you choose the courier: the buyer picks it at checkout from the carriers you have enabled, and InPost is offered only in Vinted's standard tier of up to 2 kg. The size category you chose when listing drives the postage the buyer pays. None of that fixes the compartment, which you choose on the locker screen when you arrive. If the door will not close, tap 'My parcel doesn't fit', pick a bigger size if one is free and try again; for Vinted and eBay labels a bigger compartment costs nothing extra. Only labels bought directly in the InPost app are fixed to a size.
Lockers are emptied at least once a day, and Large compartments go first in town centres, so check the InPost app for live availability before you leave; supermarket car-park lockers have the most Large slots.
What it costs
On Vinted the buyer pays the postage at a price Vinted sets per carrier and size tier, shown only at checkout. InPost is usually the cheapest carrier the buyer is offered because its own network is the cheapest: sending direct through the InPost app costs £1.99 for a Small, £2.59 for a Medium and £3.99 for a Large to another locker or shop (£2.89, £3.99 and £5.99 to a home address), against £2.62 for Evri to a ParcelShop and £3.75 for Royal Mail Tracked 48 Small Parcel since 5 October 2026. Packing flat therefore matters twice: it decides which compartment will take the parcel, and if you ever send direct it decides the price.
Worked example: a hoodie and a pair of jeans
A buyer takes a hoodie and a pair of jeans as a bundle and chooses InPost. Folded in half in a box they measure 24 cm deep, which means a Large compartment and a hunt for a locker with one free. Folded into thirds and sealed in a 35 × 45 cm mailing bag with the air pressed out, the same two items measure 14 cm, which is a Medium. At the Aldi locker that evening the InPost app shows one Large and six Mediums free, so the repack is the difference between a two-minute drop-off and a second trip.
From sale to locker, step by step
- 1Keep InPost enabled in Settings, then Shipping; after the sale, check the sold-item screen to confirm the buyer chose InPost
- 2Pack flat in a mailing bag where possible, fold clothing into thirds and press the air out before sealing
- 3Measure the depth of the packed parcel at its thickest point; that is the number that decides the compartment
- 4Open the InPost app and check that a locker on your route has the size you need free
- 5At the locker, scan the Vinted QR code (brightness up) or type the code, then choose the compartment size
- 6Put the parcel in the compartment that opens and close the door firmly until the screen confirms
- 7Allow up to 48 hours for the first scan to show in Vinted; keep the confirmation until the buyer has the parcel
Why parcels fail at the door
- Choosing a Small for a coat, thick jumper or shoes; it is only 8 cm deep
- Using a rigid box when a mailing bag would let the parcel compress into a smaller compartment
- Not measuring the packed depth before travelling; depth is the dimension that fails, not width or height
- Forgetting to check availability in the InPost app; Large compartments run out by evening in busy areas
- Wrapping clothing in bubble wrap, which adds depth without protecting anything
