About LockerRules
Independent guides to UK courier and marketplace shipping rules for online resellers: who writes them, how every figure is checked, how mistakes are corrected and how the site is funded.

Who runs LockerRules
Omair Sao
Software developer · founder, writer and editor
LockerRules is built and run by Omair Sao, a software developer, together with a small group of friends who sell second-hand clothes, shoes and homeware on Vinted, eBay and Depop. The site started in March 2026 after we kept getting the rules wrong ourselves: an Evri parcel carried to an InPost locker that would not take it, a coat that would not fit the Medium compartment we had chosen, a Royal Mail label that turned out to be QR code only. Nobody had put the answers in one place, so we built the place.
Omair writes the guides, builds the tools and checks each figure against the courier's or marketplace's own page. The friends who sell test the drop-off processes and tell him when a rule has changed before the official page has caught up. You can reach him directly at hello@lockerrules.co.uk; every message is read and answered within two working days.
The same person runs IncomeFix, the UK tax and benefits calculator site , whose About page carries the same name and contact details, so the identity behind both sites can be checked in one click.
LockerRules is not part of InPost, Evri, Royal Mail or any marketplace, and nothing here is endorsed by them. We do not sell postage, we do not take commission on anything we mention, and we do not use affiliate links. The site is funded by advertising, which is always kept separate from the content and never influences what is written. Every guide and tool is free and needs no sign-up.
What we publish
The site answers one question in many forms: how do I get this parcel to this buyer without a wasted trip, a refused parcel or an uncovered loss? It does that through 38 guides, seven marketplace pages, three courier pages, 12 dated change reports and six tools:
- Marketplace guides for Vinted, Depop, eBay, Etsy, Whatnot, Amazon and Gumtree, plus TikTok Shop, Facebook Marketplace, Vestiaire Collective, StockX, Discogs and Joybuy: who pays the postage, which couriers are offered, QR code or printed label, dispatch deadlines and protection.
- Courier guides for InPost, Evri and Royal Mail: compartment and parcel sizes, weight limits, prices, drop-off points, compensation and the problems that come up at the locker or counter.
- Situation guides such as sending shoes, coats, dresses, books, vinyl, fragile and high-value items, what to do when a parcel will not fit or a QR code will not scan, and side-by-side comparisons of price, limits, labels and prohibited items.
- Change reports whenever a courier or marketplace changes a price, a limit or a rule, each dated and linked to its source.
- Tools that run on the same verified data: the Shipping Rules Checker, Locker Size Checker, Compatibility Checker, Price Calculator, Label Type Finder and Prohibited Items Checker.
How we check our figures
A wrong locker size costs a wasted trip and a wrong price costs money, so accuracy is the whole job. This is how the site is put together:
- Official sources only. Every dimension, weight limit, price, deadline and label rule is taken from the courier's or marketplace's own published page: InPost's size and prohibited-items pages, Evri's size and price pages, Royal Mail's price guide, and the help centres of Vinted, eBay, Depop, Etsy, Whatnot, Amazon and Gumtree. We do not copy figures from other blogs.
- One set of numbers. Prices, limits and compartment sizes live in a single data file that every guide, table and tool reads from. A figure is changed in one place and every page changes with it, so two pages cannot disagree.
- Re-checked after every change. We re-verify the whole site after each courier price change (Royal Mail's are in April and October) and whenever a marketplace changes its shipping programme. The last full review was completed on , and every guide shows the date it was last checked.
- Tested at the locker. The sellers in the group use InPost lockers, Evri ParcelShops and Post Office counters every week, which is how we learn that a rule has changed before the help page says so. Where something is unconfirmed, the guide says so rather than guessing.
- Sources on every page. Each guide names the official page its figures were checked against, so you can verify anything we say in a couple of clicks.
- Estimates, clearly labelled. Where a marketplace does not publish a price (Vinted sets postage at checkout, Etsy previews its label price before you buy), the page says so and shows the courier's own price instead.
Primary sources we check against:
- InPost UK: locker sizes, prices, prohibited items
- Evri: parcel size and weight guide, prices
- Royal Mail: UK parcel prices and size formats
- Vinted help centre: shipping methods
- eBay UK help: Simple Delivery
- Depop help centre: how to ship (UK)
- Etsy help: buying Royal Mail and Evri labels
- Whatnot help: shipping for sellers in the UK
- Amazon: Fulfilled by Merchant
- Gumtree: how Delivery on Gumtree works
Corrections policy
Courier rules change without warning, and we would rather be told than be wrong. If you think a figure is out of date, email hello@lockerrules.co.uk or use the contact page with the page address and, if you can, where you saw the correct information. We check it against the official source within two working days, correct the page if we were wrong, and record the change here so readers can see what was fixed and when.
Corrections and data changes, most recent first:
- Royal Mail's online prices updated to the tariff that took effect on 5 October 2026 (Tracked 48 Small Parcel £3.75, Tracked 24 £4.80, 2nd Class Small Parcel £4.40, 2nd Class Medium Parcel £7.00 / £9.00 / £13.70, Special Delivery from £9.85, Parcel Collect 50p) across the price calculator, the Royal Mail guide and every guide that quotes them.
- The eBay Simple Delivery price post listed the item-value bands with the wrong edges (£75 to £149.99, £150 to £224.99, £225 to £374.99). Corrected to eBay's published bands: under £75, £75 to £100, £100 to £150, £150 to £375 and £375 to £750. The price calculator already used the correct bands.
- Yodel removed as a listed courier: the brand was retired on 17 July 2026, so the Yodel page now points to the InPost guide, which explains what replaced it. The homepage no longer counts Yodel as a fourth courier.
- Four 2025 update posts about an ended Evri promotion, a superseded Royal Mail price change, the Evri and DHL merger and the InPost Post Office trial were merged into one page explaining what still applies. Two pairs of overlapping guides (eBay with InPost; Evri ParcelShop drop-off) were merged, with the old addresses redirecting to the kept page.
- InPost's weight limit corrected from 25 kg to 15 kg in the Vinted locker-sizes guide, and the Evri locker limit corrected to 62 × 57 × 39 cm (the 120 cm figure applies to ParcelShops, not lockers). Vinted's carrier list corrected from three to seven, and copy that still described Yodel as a current courier was rewritten.
- Every page is now pre-rendered so the full text is readable without JavaScript, and addresses that do not exist return a real 404 instead of a blank page.
Editorial standards
- We write in plain English and show the figure behind every recommendation. If a guide says a courier is cheaper, the page shows both prices and where they came from.
- We state the date every figure applies to. Unless a page says otherwise, prices are the couriers' online prices including VAT where it applies, as published on the date shown at the top of the page.
- We separate fact from opinion. Limits, prices and rules are sourced; anything that is our judgement, such as which courier to pick for a particular item, is described as such.
- We never publish a page to promote a courier, marketplace or packaging supplier, and we do not accept payment for coverage. Advertising is clearly distinguishable from editorial content and has no influence on what we publish.
- Software keeps the numbers consistent across the site; a person checks every published figure against its official source.
How LockerRules is funded
The site is free to use and is paid for by display advertising served through Google AdSense. Ads are separated from the content and never influence what we write. We do not accept payment from couriers, marketplaces or packaging companies for coverage, rankings or recommendations, and if that ever changes we will say so on this page. You can read how advertising cookies work and how to opt out of personalised ads in our Privacy Policy.
What LockerRules is not
We are not a courier, a marketplace or a parcel broker. We cannot track your parcel, sell you a label or resolve a dispute; for those, contact the courier or marketplace directly (our contact page lists their official help centres). Prices on this site are indicative and the courier's checkout price is the one that counts. Our terms of use set this out in full.
