How shipping works on Etsy
Etsy sells postage inside the seller dashboard, so you never need to visit royalmail.com. For UK orders you can buy Royal Mail 1st or 2nd Class, Signed For, Tracked 24 or 48 and Special Delivery, or an Evri label for ParcelShop or Evri locker drop-off; for overseas orders Etsy offers Royal Mail's international services with the customs forms pre-filled. The tracking number is attached to the order automatically and the buyer is notified.
Royal Mail labels bought on the Etsy website (not in the Seller app) come with a QR code: show it at the Post Office and staff print and apply the label. Evri labels are printed at home and dropped at any ParcelShop or locker; unused Evri labels can be refunded within 15 days, and claims for lost or damaged Evri parcels must be raised within 28 days. Etsy's Evri-to-US service was suspended in August 2025, so international parcels go via Royal Mail.
Shipping profiles are the time-saver: set a profile per parcel format (Large Letter, Small Parcel, Medium Parcel) and apply it to every listing, then update the prices when Royal Mail's rates change (the last rise was on 5 October 2026 and the next is due in April 2027). Untracked 1st and 2nd Class carry only £20 of cover and give you no evidence in a 'not received' case, so use Tracked 48 (£75 cover) for anything you would mind losing and Special Delivery (£750) for high-value handmade or vintage pieces.
