Royal Mail changed its prices on Monday 5 October 2026, six months after the April rise. This one leaves letter and Large Letter stamps alone and concentrates on parcels: the formats, Tracked services and add-ons that resellers actually use. The figures below are the online prices (Royal Mail app, Click & Drop, and the labels sold inside eBay, Etsy, Amazon and Whatnot), which are what every table on this site now shows.
The new online prices
| Service | April to 4 Oct 2026 | Since 5 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Tracked 48 Large Letter (up to 1 kg) | £2.85 | £2.90 |
| Tracked 24 Large Letter (up to 1 kg) | £3.80 | £3.90 |
| Tracked 48 Small Parcel (up to 2 kg) | £3.65 | £3.75 |
| Tracked 24 Small Parcel (up to 2 kg) | £4.65 | £4.80 |
| 2nd Class Small Parcel (up to 2 kg) | £3.95 | £4.40 |
| 1st Class Small Parcel (up to 2 kg) | £5.15 | £5.70 |
| 2nd Class Medium Parcel (up to 2 kg) | £6.25 | £7.00 |
| 2nd Class Medium Parcel (up to 10 kg) | £8.05 | £9.00 |
| 2nd Class Medium Parcel (up to 20 kg) | £12.45 | £13.70 |
| Special Delivery by 1pm (up to 100 g) | £9.45 | £9.85 |
| Special Delivery by 1pm (up to 2 kg) | £15.45 | £16.05 |
| Parcel Collect (per parcel) | 30p | 50p |
The pattern is clear: the Tracked services went up by 5p to 15p, while the untracked 1st and 2nd Class parcel prices went up by 45p to £1.25. Royal Mail has been steering small senders towards Tracked for two years, and the gap between 2nd Class Small Parcel (£4.40, £20 cover, no tracking) and Tracked 48 Small Parcel (£3.75, £75 cover, full tracking) now makes the untracked service pointless for anything sold online.
Counter prices are higher again
Buying at a Post Office counter costs more than buying online. Since 5 October a Tracked 48 Small Parcel is £4.70 over the counter against £3.75 online, and Tracked 24 is £6.05 against £4.80. If you take a Vinted or eBay QR code to the Post Office the price is the marketplace's, not the counter's, so this only matters when you buy postage yourself: use the Royal Mail app or Click & Drop and either print the label or show the app's QR code at the counter.
What to change on each marketplace
- Vinted and eBay: nothing. The buyer pays a price the marketplace sets, and Vinted's and eBay's own rate cards did not change on 5 October. The Royal Mail option on both is a QR code printed for you at the Post Office, Collect+ shop or Royal Mail locker.
- Depop: if you use the 'Other' shipping option and buy Royal Mail postage yourself, the Tracked 48 Small Parcel you charge for is now £3.75 and a 2nd Class Medium Parcel is £7.00 up to 2 kg. Depop Shipping (the Evri label) is unaffected.
- Etsy: update every Shipping Profile. Etsy sells Royal Mail labels at a previewed price, but the postage you charge the buyer is whatever you typed into the profile, so a profile set in April now under-recovers by 10p to 75p per order.
- Amazon: Buy Shipping prices move with Royal Mail's, so the label cost in Seller Central has risen; check that your delivery charges on merchant-fulfilled listings still cover it.
- Whatnot: no change for sellers. The buyer pays Whatnot for shipping and the label is prepaid.
Worked example: a pair of jeans sold on Depop for £18
Packed in a mailing bag the jeans weigh about 700 g and measure 30 × 25 × 6 cm, which is a Small Parcel. Before 5 October, Royal Mail Tracked 48 cost £3.65 online. It is now £3.75, so if your Depop listing charges £3.65 for 'Other' postage you lose 10p on every sale. Change the figure to £3.75, or switch to Depop Shipping, where the buyer pays the Small tier and you get an Evri QR code instead.
The cheapest tracked option by format, from 5 October
- Thin item under 2.5 cm (a T-shirt, a slim book): Royal Mail Tracked 48 Large Letter, £2.90, with £75 of cover.
- Anything that fits an InPost compartment: InPost direct, £1.99 (Small) to £3.99 (Large) locker to locker, but only £50 of cover on second-hand items.
- Small Parcel up to 2 kg that will not fit a locker: Evri £2.62 to a ParcelShop or £3.04 to the door, or Royal Mail Tracked 48 at £3.75 if you want £75 of cover.
- Over 2 kg: Evri (£6.59 for 2 to 5 kg) is well under Royal Mail's £9.00 Medium Parcel.
Royal Mail usually announces its next change in the spring, so the April 2027 tariff is the next one to watch. Every price on this site was re-checked against Royal Mail's October 2026 price guide on 6 October 2026.
