Privacy Policy

    Last updated:

    LockerRules (lockerrules.co.uk) is an independent information website for UK online resellers. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, how advertising works here, and the rights you have under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

    1. Who we are and how to contact us

    LockerRules is operated from the United Kingdom by Omair Sao (see the About page) and is not affiliated with any courier or marketplace. For anything relating to this policy or your personal data, email hello@lockerrules.co.uk.

    2. What we collect

    We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site:

    • Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server records the IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time of each request. We use these logs only to keep the site secure and to diagnose technical problems, and they are deleted automatically after a short period.
    • Messages you send us. If you email us, we keep your name, email address and message for as long as needed to reply and to keep a record of any correction we make to the site.
    • Tool inputs. The parcel dimensions, weights and choices you enter into our checkers and calculators are processed in your browser only. They are not sent to us or stored.

    We do not run user accounts, newsletters or comment systems, and we do not sell personal data to anyone.

    3. Analytics

    We do not currently use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics service. If we introduce one in future we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

    4. Advertising and cookies (Google AdSense)

    LockerRules is free to use and is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. To keep the site honest and useful, advertising never influences what we write: we do not accept payment from couriers or marketplaces for coverage, and ads are always visually separated from our content.

    Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

    You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices or, for UK and EU users, youronlinechoices.eu. Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

    Consent. If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, a consent message asks for your permission before advertising cookies are used, in line with the UK GDPR and PECR. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Privacy & cookie settings link in the footer of every page.

    Managing cookies yourself. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. The site will keep working without advertising cookies; you will simply see ads that are not personalised.

    5. Legal bases for processing

    • Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure and available (server logs) and replying to your messages.
    • Consent: personalised advertising cookies for visitors in the UK and EEA.

    6. Your rights

    Under the UK GDPR you can ask us to:

    • confirm whether we hold personal data about you and give you a copy of it;
    • correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
    • delete your data, or restrict how we use it;
    • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
    • withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis for processing.

    To exercise any of these rights, email hello@lockerrules.co.uk. We will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

    7. Links to other websites

    Our guides link to official courier and marketplace websites (for example InPost, Evri, Royal Mail, Vinted and eBay) and occasionally to other independent resources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your data.

    8. Children

    LockerRules is written for adults who sell online. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

    9. Changes to this policy

    We will update this page whenever our practices change and show the date of the latest revision at the top. Significant changes will also be noted on our Updates page.
