Depop + Evri: Printed Label or QR Code?
Written by Omair Sao · updated · checked against Depop help centre: how to ship (UK) and Evri: our prices · how we check
Depop used to leave sellers to arrange their own postage, which is why so many old guides say you need to buy an Evri label yourself and print it. That changed with Depop Shipping: for UK sales Depop generates an Evri label for you, and you can choose between a QR code and a printable version. This guide explains how the label is issued, how the QR code works at a ParcelShop or Evri locker, when the printed version is the better choice, how the 'Other' option differs, and what each route costs.
The short answer
You do not need a printer. Choose Depop Shipping when you list and, after the sale, Depop emails you an Evri QR code (it is also shown in the order). Take the parcel to any Evri ParcelShop or Evri locker, have the code scanned, and the label is printed for you; tracking is added to the order automatically and the sale is marked as shipped at the first scan. A printable label is offered as well if you prefer to attach it yourself. If you buy your own Evri label under the 'Other' option, pick 'print in ParcelShop' at checkout on evri.com to get a QR code instead of a PDF.
How Depop Shipping issues the label
When you create a listing you choose Depop Shipping and a size tier: Small (under 1 kg), Medium (under 2 kg) or Large (under 5 kg). The buyer pays the postage for that tier at checkout, so the label costs you nothing. When the item sells, Depop emails you an Evri QR code and shows it in the order, with a link to a printable version. The label is a standard Evri tracked label with £20 of cover, and Depop Protection applies on top for Depop Shipping orders.
The tier you chose is the tier the buyer paid for. A parcel that is clearly heavier than the tier can be surcharged or refused at the counter, so weigh the packed item on kitchen scales before you list rather than guessing.
The QR code at a ParcelShop or Evri locker
Most of Evri's 9,000-plus ParcelShops have a printer at the counter: show the code, staff scan it, the label prints and is attached, and you get a receipt. ParcelShop parcels are usually scanned into the network at the evening collection, so tracking can show nothing until the next morning. Evri's own lockers, installed from March 2026, print the label at the terminal and scan immediately; they take parcels up to 62 × 57 × 39 cm and 15 kg and are open outside shop hours. Either way the order is marked as shipped at Evri's first scan, which is what stops Depop's automatic cancellation of unshipped orders.
Screenshot the code before you leave. Shops in basements and on forecourts often have no signal, and the screenshot scans just as well as the live code.
When the printed label is the better choice
The printed version is useful in three situations: a ParcelShop whose printer is out of action (rare, but it happens); the letterbox-sized Postable service, where Evri's own pages are inconsistent about in-shop printing; and sellers who post in volume and want parcels labelled and ready at home so the counter visit is a hand-over and nothing more. Print it on plain paper, attach it flat with clear tape over the whole label and do not tape across the barcode.
The 'Other' option
Choose 'Other' when you want to ship with Royal Mail, InPost or any courier Depop Shipping does not cover, when the buyer is in the Scottish Highlands or islands (Depop Shipping is mainland UK only), or for parcels over 5 kg. You buy the postage yourself and must enter the tracking number in the app when you mark the order as shipped; it cannot be edited afterwards, so copy it carefully. With 'Other' nothing is marked as shipped until you do it, and Depop's dispatch-window rule still applies. An Evri label bought on evri.com can still be a QR code: choose 'print in ParcelShop' at checkout.
What each route costs
Depop Shipping: the buyer pays the tier price Depop sets. The last figures Depop published were £2.99 for Small, £4.49 for Medium and £6.49 for Large; check the current tiers in the app before you list. Your own Evri label under 'Other': £2.62 to a ParcelShop or £3.04 to a home address for a small parcel under 1 kg, £3.52 for a 1 to 2 kg small parcel (£4.79 standard size) and £6.59 for 2 to 5 kg, including VAT, tracking and £20 of cover. Royal Mail Tracked 48 Small Parcel is £3.75 online since 5 October 2026, and InPost direct is £1.99 to £3.99 by compartment size.
Worked example
A vintage denim jacket listed with Depop Shipping in the Medium tier (it weighs 1.3 kg packed). It sells on Tuesday night and the Evri QR code is in your inbox by the time you look. On Wednesday morning you show the screenshot at the Co-op counter, the label prints, you take the receipt. The order shows 'shipped' on Wednesday evening when the driver's collection scans it. Had the buyer been on Orkney, Depop Shipping would not have been offered and you would have used 'Other' with Royal Mail Tracked 48 at £3.75, entering the tracking number yourself.
Shipping a Depop order without a printer
- 1When listing, select Depop Shipping and the size tier that matches the packed parcel: Small (under 1 kg), Medium (under 2 kg) or Large (under 5 kg)
- 2The buyer pays the postage for that tier at checkout; you pay nothing for the label
- 3After the sale, open the order in the Depop app or your email for the Evri QR code (and the printable label link)
- 4Pack the item and screenshot the QR code in case you lose signal in the shop
- 5Find an Evri ParcelShop or Evri locker in the Evri app and check its opening hours
- 6At a ParcelShop, show the QR code and staff print and attach the label; at a locker, scan the code and the terminal prints it
- 7Keep the receipt or locker confirmation; Depop marks the order as shipped at Evri's first scan and tracking updates within 24 hours
Where Depop sellers lose time or money
- Buying an Evri label separately when Depop Shipping would have generated one the buyer paid for
- Choosing a lighter size tier than the packed parcel; it can be surcharged or refused at the counter
- Using Depop Shipping for the Scottish Highlands and islands, which it does not cover; use the 'Other' option there
- Forgetting that 'Other' orders need the tracking number added manually, and that it cannot be edited afterwards
- Taking an Evri code to an InPost locker; Evri parcels go to Evri ParcelShops and Evri lockers only
