    InPost Guide for UK Resellers

InPost runs the UK's largest parcel-locker network, more than 16,000 lockers plus around 4,000 InPost Shops, and since July 2026 it also delivers to the door using the former Yodel network. QR-code drop-off with no printer, 24/7 access at most lockers, and the lowest prices for small parcels on Vinted and eBay.

    How InPost works for resellers

InPost is built around self-service lockers. After a sale on Vinted or eBay you get a QR code (or a code to type) in the marketplace app; at the locker you scan it, choose a compartment size on the screen, put the parcel in and close the door. There is nothing to print and nothing to hand to a person, which is why it has become the default courier for UK clothing resellers.

Every compartment shares the same 38 cm width and 64 cm height; only the depth changes: 8 cm (Small), 19 cm (Medium) or 41 cm (Large). The whole network has a 15 kg weight limit and a maximum parcel size of 41 × 38 × 64 cm. Because depth is the constraint, a mailing bag nearly always beats a box: soft items compress into a cheaper, more available compartment.

Sending directly through the InPost app costs £1.99 (Small), £2.59 (Medium) or £3.99 (Large) from a locker or shop to another locker or shop, and £2.89, £3.99 or £5.99 to a home address. Prices are set by compartment size, not weight, and an InPost label stays valid for 30 days. Marketplace prices differ: Vinted and eBay set their own postage, which the buyer pays.

The trade-off is what InPost will not carry and will not cover. Batteries of any kind (including phones, laptops and vapes), liquids, perfume, aerosols and anything pressurised are prohibited. Glass, ceramics, electronics without batteries and collectables can be sent but are not compensated, and second-hand or handmade goods are covered only up to £50 (the network maximum is £500). For anything valuable, Royal Mail Special Delivery is the safer choice.

Common Issues & How to Avoid Them

    • Parcel too deep for the compartment: measure the packed depth (8 / 19 / 41 cm) before you leave, and use a mailing bag rather than a box
    • Locker full or no Large compartments free: check live availability in the InPost app; supermarket-site lockers usually have the most space
    • QR code won't scan: turn brightness to maximum, or type the code on the keypad instead
    • Item refused because it is prohibited: no batteries (phones, laptops, vapes), liquids, perfume, aerosols or alcohol
    • Low compensation for resellers: second-hand items are covered only up to £50, and glass, ceramics and collectables are not covered at all
    • Weight over 15 kg: nothing in the InPost network accepts more, including the former Yodel home-delivery service

    What happened to Yodel

For years Yodel was the budget option for heavy eBay parcels, accepting up to 30 kg and 150 cm through Yodel Direct. That ended in 2026. After a phased migration starting in June, the Yodel app and website were switched off on 17 July 2026 and every Yodel parcel, driver and drop-off shop became part of InPost. Existing tracking numbers moved to the InPost app.

Yodel Direct became InPost Direct (inpostdirect.co.uk). Shop-to-shop and shop-to-door parcels are limited to 10 kg and 60 × 50 × 50 cm and start at £1.66 plus VAT for 1 kg (£1.99 including VAT); door-to-door collection allows 15 kg and 120 × 50 × 50 cm from £3.19 plus VAT; locker-to-door uses the standard locker limit of 15 kg and 41 × 38 × 64 cm. The old 30 kg ceiling is gone; nothing in the InPost network accepts more than 15 kg.

eBay removed Yodel from Simple Delivery when the brand closed. If you need to send something heavier than 15 kg through eBay, the options are Royal Mail (up to 20 kg) or DHL home collection (up to 30 kg). Yodel was never a Vinted, Depop, Etsy or Whatnot carrier, so those platforms are unaffected.

Some retailer checkouts and older tracking emails may still say 'Yodel' while systems are updated, and a few former Yodel stores are still re-branding. If a parcel you are expecting shows Yodel tracking, enter the number in the InPost app or on inpost.co.uk. For sending, use the InPost app: lockers and InPost Shops for anything up to 15 kg, or book a door-to-door collection through InPost Direct.
